INFO - NORTH FULTON COUNTY & CITIES OF ROSWELL, ALPHARETTA, MOUNTAIN PARK, & SANDY SPRINGS
Fulton County, lying at the heart of the Metropolitan area, is the largest and most populous county in the state. Fulton is also home to the city of Atlanta, the hub of action for the state of Georgia. Atlanta is where the state capitol is located, as well as major sports arenas, fine restaurants, convention centers, shopping and business outlets, including downtown, midtown, and Buckhead. Fulton County is the cultural center of the state, including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Alliance Theatre, the High Museum of Art, the Fox Theatre, and the Center for Puppetry Arts.
Incorporated North Fulton cities include Atlanta, Roswell, Alpharetta, Mountain Park, and recently Sandy Springs was incorporated. The growth that began several years ago in the northern suburbs has boosted the population of this area, with new businesses as well as new residents calling the area home. Like neighboring Cobb County, North Fulton residents have some of the highest income and educational demographics in metro Atlanta and like Cobb County, North Fulton, particularly Roswell and Alpharetta have some of the finest public schools in the 20 county metro Atlanta region.
RECREATION
Together Fulton County and the City of Atlanta maintain 74 parks, 82 tennis courts, 5 tennis centers, and 21 public swimming pools. Several public golf courses are available as well as four lakes, seven hiking trails and four riding rings. The county also sponsors many summer playground programs, a Senior Citizens recreation program, and special recreation programs for the handicapped. Amateur ski and tennis clubs are active and very popular.
ALPHARETTA - the town was incorporated in 1858 as the county seat of Milton County. The county no longer exists, having merged with Fulton County many years ago. Alpharetta is a city of contrasts, holding on to the old small town closeness, while yielding to significant development brought on by the ripple effect of growing Atlanta. The town is still seeing continued growth in homes and businesses lead by the ongoing office and retail development near the highway 400 corridor. Farm acreage and estate type or high density subdivisions dot the landscape in this fast growing community. Alpharetta Homes are mostly traditional and in newer subdivisions most less than five to eight years old, often offering pool and tennis facilities, styles are European stucco or brick and frame traditional and Alpharetta Homes for sale range from the low $300,000's to over $10 million, the more expensive homes being on estate size lots and often in gated communities.
Alpharetta is home to Wills Park, one of the largest Equestrian Centers in Georgia, thus making the community a popular location for many horse owners. There is a selection of large homes with acreage, and even subdivisions with provisions for horses. Prices start in the high $200,000 range and go well over $5 million.

ATLANTA, once known as Terminus, the city was founded in 1837 as a transportation point with a tavern, blacksmith shop, and grocery store. The city of Atlanta was chartered in 1847, but really began as a major city after its rebirth in 1865.After The city was burned in the Battle of Atlanta during the Civil War, and afterwards Atlanta began a growth and building boom that continues to this day. Atlanta is made up of many neighborhoods within the city limits, but is such an anchor for the whole metro area that even residents of outlying communities and smaller towns within the large metro area will refer to being from "Atlanta" when they are traveling.
ROSWELL - Roswell was settled in 1837 and incorporated in 1854. Just twenty minutes North of Atlanta's perimeter, Roswell's antebellum homes were spared the burnings of General Sherman's Civil War assault, and today are an important part of the cities historical appeal. There are a group of homes in the heart of the city that date to the cities early growth in the 1840's and 1850's. A popular tourist spot is Bullock Hall, built in 1840, and the home of Martha Bullock, mother of President Theodore Roosevelt.
The cities quaint square is often the setting for art and antique shows and various civic and cultural activities. Near the square is the Old Roswell Mill dating to the Civil War, and now home to business office space and small shops. At the main thoroughfare where many small antique and boutique shops and cafes line the streets, the city has recently completed a nice renovation to the street by installing landscaping, new brick paver sidewalks, period lamp post lights, and sitting benches.
Roswell Home styles are mostly two story traditional with some ranches, and some of the newer subdivisions also have European styled stucco homes and offer membership in country club facilities for homeowners. Roswell Homes for sale start in the high $200,000's and can go well over $1million in some small enclaves of large estate type homes that have been recently developed.
