Hall County was established in 1818 and was named for Lyman Hall, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Like much of North Georgia, the county was once Cherokee Indian territory. Gainesville, which was chartered in 1821 is the county seat. Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Hall County is a scenic and truly beautiful place to live, work, and play. The county is situated about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta, and is accessible by I-985 and Georgia 400. The county is a mixture of farming, poultry industries, and over 30 Fortune 500 companies. For recreation Lake Lanier is a major attraction with locals and tourists, and the beautiful North Georgia mountains are only 30 - 40 minutes to the north. There are seven golf courses and 11 parks throughout the county. Homes are available in a variety of styles and prices, and include a few gated golf and country club communities. Prices range from $90,000+ to over $2 million for custom waterfront estate homes.
