Paulding County, located northwest of Atlanta is typical small town America with shops lining the downtown area, where locals come to shop and can be seen meeting with and greeting their neighbors. Paulding County with its serene countryside, is also one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. In addition to housing there is a planned 1500 acre development in south Paulding with five golf courses and a 500 bed convention resort with spa, tennis, and equestrian centers. There is plenty of room for new housing in uncrowded settings with over 75% of the land still remaining as undeveloped forest and timberland.

Paulding County was created by legislative act in 1832 and was once part of Cherokee County, but in 1851 the boundaries were changed to the present day lines and Dallas became the county seat. The county was named for Revolutionary War patriot John Paulding. The county was the site of much Civil War action and there are many Civil War Memorials to attest to the areas rich historical past.

Most of the current new home development is located in eastern and southeastern Paulding County between highway 61 and the Cobb County line. Home prices generally range from $90,000+ to the $300's. There is a good selection of homes from the $140's to the $200,000 range.

DALLAS, population 4000+ - Dallas is the county seat and was named for George M. Dallas, the U.S. Vice President under James K. Polk. The town still resembles small towns from decades past, with a downtown dominated by a stately old courthouse.

HIRAM, population 1400+ - this charming small town has a quaint old European look to the downtown area, and as newcomers continue to discover the quiet charm of Hiram and the availability of land, this has become one of the fastest growing areas of Paulding County.
